A BOXING club that works with vulnerable young people has been boosted by a £10,000 donation from the Hinkley Point C Community Fund.

The funds have been donated to the Bridgwater-based Valley Kings Foundation and will enable the charity to deliver more classes, opening doors to life-changing opportunities.

The Valley Kings Foundation dedicates itself to running an educational and support hub for young people and adults for free.

A Valley Kings Foundation spokesperson said: "Central to the Valley Kings Foundation’s mission is the use of youth boxing training and other sports as platforms to promote physical and mental health.

"The foundation believes in the power of physical activity to overcome challenges and inspire participation, fostering a holistic approach to well-being."

It aims to nurture independence, maturity, and responsibility in individuals, with free services provided to individuals facing challenges due to age, infirmity, disability, low income, or socio-economic struggles.

The foundation's origins trace back to the Egypt Valley Kings Project, launched in 2021, which saw vulnerable children aged four to 18 invited to train in the gym for free.

With full parental support, these children engaged in physical activities that promoted health, discipline, and personal growth.

The spokesperson said the "success of this project demonstrated the transformative power of sports and set the stage for the Foundation’s future endeavours".

Valley Kings Foundation similarly offers free boxing and martial arts classes to promote physical and mental health.

For those looking to further their sports careers, the organisation provides training, career advice and mentorship programmes.

The Valley Kings Foundation invests in staff training, ensuring the longevity and positive impacts of the Valley Kings Gym on Bridgwater's community.

The spokesperson added: "By engaging with families and the broader community, the foundation aims to expand its role within the UK, delivering its message of empowerment and fostering stronger community connections.

"Through continuous fundraising efforts, the organisation aims to ensure the longevity of its projects and uphold its commitments to the youth. The provision of free classes remains a priority, enabling more individuals to learn and develop new skills."

The donation from the Hinkley Point C Community Fund will allow the Valley Kings Foundation to offer a wider range of classes tailored to meet the needs of vulnerable youth.

These classes will cover various areas, including academic tutoring, career guidance, mental health support and physical fitness.

Vulnerable young individuals are set to gain access to resources and opportunities previously unavailable to them.
