A MOTORCYCLIST has died after he was involved in a collision with a car on the A38 Taunton Road in Bridgwater this morning.

Police were called to the scene by the ambulance service at 9.30am. The man sadly died at the scene despite the best efforts of the emergency services.

His family have been informed and are being supported by a specially-trained family liaison officer.

Police closed a stretch of the A38 between the Huntworth Business Park roundabout and the Showground Road/Stockmoor Drive roundabout after the collision. That has since been re-opened.

Officers have appealed for any witnesses, or anyone with dashcam footage, to contact them by phoning the 101 non-emergency line.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: “A man has sadly died following a collision in Bridgwater earlier today (Sunday, August 4).

“Officers were called by the ambulance service at around 9.30am following a serious collision involving a car and a motorcycle on the A38 Taunton Road.

“Sadly, despite the best efforts of emergency personnel, the motorcyclist died at the scene.

“His next of kin has been informed and our condolences and thoughts are with them at this time. They are being offered support by a specially-trained family liaison officer.

“The road was closed in both directions between the Huntworth Business Park roundabout and the Showground Road/Stockmoor Drive roundabout, but it has now been reopened.

“We would like to thank motorists for their patience and understanding while we carried out enquiries.
