A MOTHER from Bridgwater has been left unable to work after being given a terminal cancer diagnosis.

In August 2023, the Mercury reported that mother and grandmother Beverley Mallaghan had been undergoing unsuccessful chemotherapy for a year.

Her lung cancer had grown larger, so she was moved to a new chemotherapy, and shaved her head for charity at a Brave the Shave event.

Sadly, Beverley's illness was deemed terminal just months later in January 2024, and more recently, her family was given the news that the cancer had spread to her brain and spine.

"We do not know what limited time we have left together," said Beverley's daughter, Roxx.

"As you can imagine, we’re all devastated.

"Mum wishes to not know how long she has left.

"She wants to enjoy this time with all her family."

As a result, Beverley is now unable to drive, or work.

The family hopes that donations from the public will be able to help with paying for essentials and bills during this tough period.

"I have set up a GoFundMe page to help support mum, and my dad, who is also going with cancer," Roxx said.

"We as a family are trying to get some money together to take the strain off both my parents."

In addition to this, they hope to make Beverley's dreams come true by funding a trip to New York later this year, which she had already booked before before being told the shocking news that she would be unable to work.

"My mum has booked to go to New York in October with some of my family, but now without a job, this is something she will struggle to pay off," Roxx said.

"This is the one thing on mum's bucket list, and a wish we want to fulfil."
