BRIDGWATER'S Half Marathon had its highest-ever turnout this weekend, as over 1,000 entrants turned up to race.
The race, which started and ended at Morganians Rugby Football Club, was held on Sunday, September 1, raising "well over £10,000".
Gavin Roberts, race director, said: "We were delighted with this year’s event, we had a record number of entrants (over 1000), the team pulled together and we have received overwhelmingly positive feedback from runners who love the atmosphere of our event.
"It will be a few weeks before we can announce a fundraising figure but suffice to say we will have raised a significant amount of cash - well over £10,000 - to fund kinder treatments and ultimately a cure for Cancer.
"Thanks to our Sponsors and all involved in putting on this great event, particular thanks to our main sponsor Kellands.
"We are already working hard to make 2025 bigger and better again so watch this space!"
Three races took place on the day, the half marathon, a 10K, and a 5k Fun Run.
Adam Tango Holland took first place overall in the half marathon, with 1:08:49, and Gill Pearson was the first woman to cross the line, with a time of 1:23:31.
Coming first in the 10K were Allister Bristow and Lucy Coad.
Runners were treated to a free sports massage, with donations taken for Cancer Research, by local company RE/move - Sports and Recovery Massage.
Connor from RE/move said: "The Bridgwater Half Marathon is a great event and I was privileged to be a part of it.
"Giving out free Sports massages to the runners and hearing their stories was great, as well as doing my part and raising money for Charity."
The event was attended by various southwest running clubs, including Street Striders, Yeovil Town Road Running Club, Hinkley Point B Harriers, Exmouth Harriers, Tavistock Athletic Club, Erme Valley Harriers, Burnham On Sea Harriers, South West Road Runners, BAD RAT Runners, and Emersons Green Running Club.
