A YOUNG boy from Somerset has raised over £1,000 after he got his hair shaved for the first time ever.

Mason, 14, got his hair shaved at The Harvest Moon in North Newton on August 24.

He chose to support Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal, which supports Bristol’s Children's Hospital to help save lives and support sick children.

Mason “got his mop chopped” at 4pm on the day and ended up raising £1,015 for the Grand Appeal at the time of this article.

The Grand Appeal provides family accommodation that provides a safe and supportive place for families to stay while their child is in hospital.

Music, play and arts programmes can be seen in every ward at Bristol Children’s Hospital, helping young children deal with the stresses and fears they may face during treatment. This will also be supported by the donations.

The Harvest Moon was holding a charity event at the time with “fun for the whole family.”

This included a Skittles, pool and darts competition, a raffle and live music from 6pm.

Mason’s mum Sarah said: “Anyone who knows Mason knows he has always, since the day his hair started growing, had long hair.

“Super proud of your achievement. You have a huge heart, and we (mum and dad) love you.

“Well done Son."
