AN ARTS charity has launched an exhibition featuring clay figures that represent “our community and our individuality”.

Seed Sedgemoor said they have been talking to people at their events and activities across Bridgwater over the past few years and consistently heard that people want more arts and culture in the town, particularly in the town centre.

Thanks to a brand-new partnership with Angel Place Shopping Centre, an exciting new popup venue will provide just that over the next twelve months.

The Seed Creative Popup was launched by The Mayor of Bridgwater Cllr Jacqui Solomon at 11:30am on Friday, August 30 with the programme to open with the much loved Individuality project.

This exhibition now features over 1,300 clay figures made by local people to simultaneously represent our community and our individuality, a spokesperson for the arts charity said Seed will commission artists and organisations to creatively take over a former Green Grocer’s, transforming the long-empty former shop in a myriad of ways over the next year.

Seed Director Scott O’Hara said: “People in Bridgwater keep telling us they need more opportunities to be creative, and more opportunities to connect in the town centre.

“This Creative Popup space is a wonderful opportunity to do both.

“We are really looking forward to seeing what artists can do to engage with the community and utilise the popup space in creative ways.

“Artists and community groups can propose ideas for the popup via the Seed website www.seedsedgemoor.com.

“People wanting to come along can follow the programme on Seed’s social media channels Facebook, Instagram and Twitter or signing up for a bulletin on the Seed website.”
