THE Bridgwater Service Station has been named one of the worst in the UK for electric vehicles.

The data comes from a study carried out by Drive Electric which said the station, operated by Moto, “takes the bottom spot as it is considered the worst for electric drivers”.

A spokesperson for Moto said the company is “conducting an industry-leading rollout of Ultra Rapid EV charging bays across our estate and have plans to add six more bays to our Bridgwater site next year”.

On its website, Drive Electric explained: “Bridgwater Service station is located on the M5 and is operated by Moto and was recently voted one of the UK's worst motorway services by Which, in our list it takes the bottom spot as it is considered the worst for electric drivers.

“The rest stop has just one electric vehicle charger on ZapMap, with a highest output of 60kWh and an average cost of £0.79/kWh.

“On the positive side, Bridgwater has one hotel and six eateries, including West Cornwall Pasty Co. and Krispy Kreme, however, unfortunately with a mere two-star rating from users, this number of eateries proved insufficient to avoid the bottom spot on our list.”

A Moto spokesperson said: “We are conducting an industry-leading rollout of Ultra Rapid EV charging bays across our estate and have plans to add six more bays to our Bridgwater site next year.

“We’re constantly looking for ways to improve our services across the UK and take all feedback into account.

“We have a clear plan for transforming the rest stop experience at all our sites across the UK, including Bridgwater.”
