CHANDOS Street will close temporarily for five days for installation works.
Somerset Council has issued an order under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to prohibit all traffic from using the road in Bridgwater.
The closure, covering a 74-metre stretch from the junction with Bond Street to the junction with the lane between Castle Street and Chandos Street, will allow Wales & West Utilities to carry out a service relay installation.
It was revealed in a public notice posted on the Public Notice Portal on September 3.
Work is scheduled to begin on September 23 and is expected to be completed by September 27.
The road will be closed 24 hours a day during this period.
Alternative routes can be found on one.network, but users will need to register for free to view closures more than two weeks ahead.
The council stated the road closure is necessary to carry out the works and to prevent potential danger to the public or serious damage to the road.
For more information about the works, contact Wales & West Utilities on 0292 010 2441 Ext3017, quoting reference ttro515207N.
The council has thanked residents and businesses for their patience and understanding while the essential work is carried out.
