BRIDGWATER’S Premier Inn has applied to make changes to its hotel, including rearranging their restaurant.
The hotel chain’s site in Bridgwater on Express Park, Bristol Road, is seeking to make changes which will see 15 new additional rooms at the hotel.
Back in April, it was reported that around 1,500 jobs at the Premier Inn would be axed across the UK.
This comes as the ownership group of Premier Inn, Whitbread, have revealed they want to “optimise” their food and drink offering to add more than 3,500 hotel rooms across its estate and increase “operational efficiencies.”
Because of this, several of the Premier Inn’s Beefeater and Brewers Fayre restaurants are subject to consultation.
Plans have been put in place to sell 126 of its less profitable branded restaurants, with 21 of these sales having already gone through.
Approximately 112 restaurants will be converted into new hotel rooms, with Bridgwater’s Premier Inn assumed to change.
Dominic Paul, Whitbread's chief executive, said: “We recognise that our transition will impact some of our team members so we will be providing support throughout this process.
“We are committed to working hard to enable as many of those affected as possible to remain with us.”
