PLANS for the erection of 14 affordable houses in North Petherton have been submitted to Somerset Council.
Axeus Group Limited submitted plans this week to proceed with its development on 0.25 hectares of land south of Royal View. The land, which is currently occupied by garaging and outbuildings associated with Batts Coach House, is located near another recently-completed affordable housing development – the Batts Meadow estate, completed in May 2024 and comprising of 7 eco-friendly, affordable homes.
An access road currently serves the land and several dwellings from the east off Newton Road. However, it is proposed to close this access for the site, and to take a new access off Sterling Way to the north.
The development will see four two-bedroom houses, six three-bedroom houses, and four two-bedroom flats/maisonettes. There will also be 24 parking spaces included. 100% of the development will be affordable, complementing the approach taken at the nearby Batts Meadow estate.
The Bridgwater-based Axeus Group, which was founded in 2006, will be responsible for the project if planning permission is granted. Past developments for the company include properties in Bridgwater at Morgan’s Quarter, Linden Court, Pathfinder Terrace, Londsdale House, and Meadow Drive at East Huntspill. It prides itself on using traditional brick and block build with a full plaster finish. Each dwelling constructed on the land south of Royal View will reflect this approach, with red bricks, white render, a red pantile roof and UPVC white windows.
The application closes for public comments on Tuesday, October 29. Full details of the development can be viewed on Somerset Council’s planning portal with application reference: 37/24/00078
