A cinema in Bridgwater will host charity screenings to raise awareness of homelessness and mental health.

Scott Cinemas will team up with Under One Sky on World Homeless Day and World Mental Health Day, which takes place on Thursday, October 10.

The charity has co-produced a documentary, I'm Still Here, which will be shown in Barnstaple, Bridgwater, and Truro.

It focuses on how the Covid-19 pandemic affected the homeless community, as city streets went from packed to empty overnight.

A movement was started by Under One Sky to provide help for these most vulnerable of people with a daily emergency response, demonstrating what compassion and drive can achieve, even in dark times.

This movement led to the establishment of Under One Sky as a charity.

Since the onset of Covid, its 3,000 volunteers have supported people affected by homelessness more than 220,000 times.

The film was directed by two Under One Sky volunteers who in their daily lives are film and TV professionals, Franc Vissers, and Elizabeth Healey.

(Image: Under One Sky) Elizabeth McGovern, Downtown Abbey star, said: "This film gives us hope: by saving others, we save ourselves.

"It gives us a way forward."

The charity screenings will be available at a special ticket price of £5, with all profits donated to Under One Sky.

The charity began in response to the desperate situation faced by hundreds of people left on the streets of London during the pandemic.

On March 23, 2020, when the government's stay-at-home order left the city deserted, the small community group began a daily emergency response to aid those affected by homelessness.

Within weeks, the handful of volunteers grew into a movement with hundreds of Londoners coming together to support "the forgotten ones."

I'm Still Here chronicles this journey of community, compassion, and connection.

The documentary gives a voice to those left on the streets at the worst possible time and aims to inspire viewers by demonstrating what can be achieved through collective efforts.
