A PUB near Bridgwater has won the prestigious Tripadvisor Traveller’s Choice Award for the second consecutive year.
The Cottage Inn at Keenthorne ranks in the top 10% of pubs according to Tripadvisor. It is run by Julian Pocock and Kerry Jones, who reopened the pub in April 2022.
Speaking about the Award, Kerry said: “We found out last week that we had won the Tripadvisor Traveller’s Choice Award for the second year in a row. It means so much to us. It means the world to us. We get a buzz from serving customers."
"We are really grateful to all of the team that work here. Everybody leaves our pub happy.”
She added: “We’ve worked really hard to improve the reputation of the pub since 2022. A lot of it has been done through social media, but also word of mouth. Now we are at the point where we have over 300 people booked for Christmas parties this year; we have a Grill Night every Thursday; and our Sunday roasts are often sold out!”
Kerry, who first began working in hospitality at the age of 15 as a glass collector, cherishes The Cottage Inn. Along with head chef Julian, who is rarely out of the kitchen, the pair have created an award-winning destination on the edge of the Quantock Hills near Nether Stowey.
Hearty food is the central offering of the award-winning pub, which is “famous” for its Sunday roasts. In addition, the pub caters for gluten free customers and strives to provide the best experience. The Cottage Inn features a wildlife theme throughout, inspired by the nearby Quantocks, and is dog-friendly in the main bar area and in the snug.
When Kerry and Julian aren’t winning awards, they are hosting events at the pub. This includes an upcoming performance by the Beachd Buoys, a not-for-profit sea-shanty group raising funds for the Children’s Hospice South West. They will be performing at the pub on Sunday, November 24 from 3pm.
The Cottage Inn is open from 12pm to 8.30pm on Fridays and Saturday, and to 7pm on Sundays. On Mondays and Thursdays it opens from 12pm to 2pm, and again from 5.30pm to 8.30pm. It is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
