British Flag CC have put a futuristic spin on a festive favourite for this year’s Bridgwater Carnival, with their theme “Christmas meets steampunk.”
It will see a cart based around a Christmas toy workshop, with inventors, assistants and toy soldiers.
The theme had been in the pipeline for a few years, and members decided that it should become a reality in 2024. Members, who are “always looking forward to carnival”, have dedicated many hours and enjoyed every moment creating the road entry - and the stage show for this year’s Carnival Concerts.
Asked about who has been involved with this year’s entry, a spokesperson for British Flag CC said: “There are too many to mention, but we have lots of committed members and also helpers who give up a lot of their time throughout the year. The engineering team have worked extremely hard this year and it shows!”
They added: “Thank you to Lorraine and Steve Cresswell who have been our landlady and landlord at our home pub for a number of years. They have now passed the baton to Nathan Huxtable who has kindly welcomed the club with open arms. Also, to our captain, Pete Woodley who has been in the role for 10 years but will be handing over at the end of this year.”
“We wish everyone a safe, successful and dry carnival season!”
