A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving following a single-vehicle collision on the A39 near Bridgwater.
The crash occurred on Tuesday, 22 October on the A39 near Cannington. Emergency services were called to Main Road after the incident, near the junction with Limestone Hill, at approximately 9:55am.
The road remained closed following the incident between the Cannington roundabout and the junction with Skimmerton Lane, to allow repairs to a damaged electricity pole to be carried out.
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “In relation to the investigation, a 48-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drugs. He’s been released under investigation for our enquiries to continue.”
Aerial pictures sent to the Bridgwater Mercury reveal a grey Mercedez-Benz on its roof, straddled across both lanes of the A39. The driver of the 1.8 litre vehicle was checked by doctors at the scene and was due to be taken to hospital by officers.
