For Bridgwater Carnival 2024, Wills CC is heading to the wonderful world of Roald Dahl’s imagination. The club’s cart is based on the classic children’s stories written by one of the greatest storytellers of the 20th Century.
All club members were given the opportunity to put an idea in, but it was Vice Cart Captain, Gareth Healy’s Dahl theme that was voted in.
A club spokesperson said: “As always, Carnival happens all year round for us but ultimately this is why we do it. This year the theme has given us an excuse to find our inner child. It's bright and colourful and a tribute to Roald Dahl's amazing imagination along with his equally amazing illustrator Quentin Blake.”
“This year's theme has been such fun to do. We've loved bringing some of Roald Dahl's characters to life. There were just too many to choose from. We hope that everyone coming to see the carnival enjoys seeing it as much as we have enjoyed creating it.”
The club’s tractor this year will have the oldest member – Bob Want – and the youngest – Maddie Webb. “If anyone is interested in joining a Tableau Carnival Club we would love to meet them. Find us on Facebook.”
“Wills CC are a team, and we all contribute to the entry. We have talented and skilled people doing our electrics, metal work, woodwork, costumes, music and the artwork. A huge thank you to our fundraisers and administrators as we couldn't do it without them and of course, our long-suffering families who take the late nights and missed meals all in their stride.”
