For this year’s Bridgwater Carnival 2024, Toppers CC have chosen ‘Parlay’ as their theme, which will see a unique twist on pirates.
A club spokesperson said: “We have been thinking about using the ‘Parlay’ theme for a few years and thought this year would be the most appropriate year to create our design. It has allowed us to utilise UV lighting which has provided us with some of our biggest successes in previous years, something we hope to build upon this year.”
The word ‘Parlay’ comes from the French, meaning ‘to speak’. It was popularised in Pirates of the Caribbean movies, referencing a meeting between enemies to negotiate.
“We are excited for this year's carnival and are hopeful that our entry will be as big a crowd pleaser as last year's and bring us plenty of success on the county circuit.”
“The club’s theme is in memory of our President, John Lang, who sadly passed away this year. His help and support will be missed greatly by all those involved in the club.”
Toppers CC would like to thank Margaret Lang, Joan Lang, Johnny Lock and all members, helpers and supporters of the club for their continued support in our build this year. We would also like to thank all our sponsors for this year.
