The theme for Renegades CC’s cart at Bridgwater Carnival 2024 is ‘The Manor’, which features a haunted mansion where, if you enter, there is no turning back!

The winners of the White Hart Cup at this year’s Carnival Concerts aim to portray the idea of love, betrayal and deathly beauty with their cart. 32 people will be on the cart, which was designed by Aron Whiting with costumes made by Wendy Stone and Georgina Edwards.

A spokesperson for Renegades CC said: “The club’s love of Moulin Rouge and specifically the high- impact ‘Bad Romance’… the ideas stemmed from the song where the club then worked to create a theme around the song which correlates well.”

Carnival goers can expect to see the whole cart encapsulated by the idea of a haunted mansion, where the personnel are the ghostly occupiers. The front will feature a gyroscope, along with turn tables and moving platforms throughout.

LED lighting will help set the mood, along with candelabras and chandeliers to portray the grandness of the setting, with the lighting, colour and personnel intend to depict the dark, ghostly theme. Bad Romance’s Moulin Rouge music will provide the soundtrack.

The club’s spokesperson added: “Renegades CC would like to thank all the members for their dedication to the club and cart, as well as those who show kindness and support to the club.”

“2024 has been a year of ups and downs for the club, but winning the White Hart Cup on stage has been just the boost needed and we can’t wait to show our Carnival Cart entry this year, which we have been working just as hard on.”

“Our ongoing thank you goes to Aron Whiting and his team, who work tirelessly all year designing, building and bringing our visions to life! We couldn’t do it without you!”
