BRIDGWATER’s Scott Cinemas is showing the debut premiere of ‘Layla’ next Monday, November 11 – and it’s free to watch.
The film follows the eponymous character’s struggle as an Arab drag queen, whose confident façade hides their desperate desire for love. The nature of modern relationships and coming to terms with differing values lies at the heart of Amrou Al-Kadhi’s feature debut.
It is being shown as part of the ‘Escapes’ series at 150 cinemas across the country, which is supported by the British Film Institute and showcases independent film to new audiences.
The exclusive viewing on Monday, November 11 will start at 8pm. Tickets can be booked online at: https://bit.ly/3YTGB8J
Layla features a strong cast of stars, including Bilal Hasna, Self Esteem and Emma McDonald. The characters embark on a daring yet tender romance set in and around East London’s iconic drag clubs on a journey of self-discovery. The film has an age rating of 15.
The viewing will be one of the first opportunities to watch the film ahead of its official UK cinema release. More than 15,000 tickets will be available. To help make cinema more accessible, all Escapes screenings of ‘Layla’ will be presented with descriptive subtitles on screen.
