A PLOT of land in Bridgwater once used as a landfill site by Somerset Council is up for sale, with the potential to support employment and industry in the area.
The 8-hectare site at Somerset Bridge is situated in the shadow of the M5 and is bordered by the Bridgwater and Taunton Canal and the Bristol to Exeter Line.
It’s the latest parcel of land to come to the market as part of the Sedgemoor Local Plan and is allocated for employment use under Policy B12 of the Sedgemoor Local Plan. This use includes general industry and storage and distribution.
Greenslade Taylor Hunt, who is marketing the land, said: “We are of the opinion that the land could have a range of uses, subject to grant of planning permission.”
The land is subject to an Option Agreement between the landowner and Somerset Council, which dates from December 2023 and relates to part of the land being use as a landfill site. The covenant restricting the use of this purpose would be released following successful purchase.
The 19 acres of land, which has a guide price of £3 million, is not currently serviced but mains services but this is available on or near the land. Access is available through an adopted road off Squibbers Way.
