A NEW mobility shop has opened its doors in Bridgwater, offering customers a wide range of disability and mobility equipment.
Mendip Mobility’s new store is the third to be opened by the family-run firm in Somerset, alongside its Street and Yeovil stores. It’s conveniently located at Jessie Lee Close, just off The Drove in Bridgwater.
The ribbon was officially cut by loyal customers, Peter and Alison, at just after 11am on Wednesday, November 20, 2024. Alison said she was “very honoured” to open the new store, while Peter commented that “they’ve done an excellent job.”
The new store stocks a range of mobility aids, scooters, wheelchairs and power chairs. Light-weight and foldable options are also available.
“Mendip Mobility was established in 2007, but we always felt Bridgwater needed a new mobility shop since the last one left the town centre”, said Sue Allcock, Manager of Mendip Mobility.
Sue continued: “We actually tried to get premises in the town centre and we were looking for something with suitable parking, but nothing was available. Eventually, we settled on this unit, which has good road connections.”
Helen Allcock, Bridgwater’s new Store Manager, commented: “We’ve got a wide variety of mobility aids, scooters, wheelchairs, and power chairs - including light-weight options too. Further down the line we’re looking to add a workshop service for customers’ products needing repairs.”
“Primarily we are a family run business and we have loyal customers, such as Alison and Peter. Our prime objective is to help people with their mobility needs.”
Mendip Mobility also offer a Motability Scheme, allowing customers to exchange some, or all of an individual’s higher rate of mobility allowance for a scooter, power wheelchair, or other assisted vehicle.
Bridgwater’s new Mendip Mobility store is located at Unit One, Jessie Lee Close, TA6 4DH. The shop opens from 10am to 4pm every weekday. To contact the store, phone: 01278 551494.
