BRIDGWATER Town Council has revealed the actual cost of the short-lived Fallen Moon art installation, following a Freedom of Information request by the Bridgwater Mercury.
The artwork lasted just one week before falling victim to Storm Ashley, which caused irreparable damage to the fabric and electronic infrastructure. It was intended to run from October 14 to November 3, 2024.
Now, it can be revealed that £47,204.47 funding was spent in total on the ‘Fallen Moon art installation. 54 per cent of this was spent on local providers to set up the project, which amounts to £25,677.67.
The artist behind the project, Luke Jerram, was paid £10,000 to his company for the artwork.
Asked about the removal costs of the installation, which remains deflated in Bridgwater Docks, Bridgwater Town Council confirmed it would cost approximately £7,000.
Bridgwater Town Council initially said the budget of the project to be £45,000, which has since been confirmed to be £50,000.
The remaining £2,795.53 will be amalgamated into the Town Deal small grants pot to provide funding for other cultural and arts projects.
