An asbestos removal contractor has won a prestigious award.
S Roberts Group, based in Bridgwater, Somerset, was awarded the Gold Training Award by the Asbestos Removal Contractors Association (ARCA) in December 2024.
This is the second consecutive year the company has received the award due to the high scores achieved by its employees in training sessions.
Sam Lawson, asbestos director at S Roberts Group, said: "This award is only given to ARCA members that have met rigorous criteria and is a significant and vital achievement that showcases our high levels of competency in asbestos removal.
"We are so delighted to have been presented with this award, which truly highlights the dedication and hard work of our team members, who have attained higher-than-average scores in training sessions this year.
"Our achievement was also acknowledged at this year’s ARCA AGM in October, so we couldn’t be prouder.
"We would like to thank everyone involved with this aspect of our business.
"It’s wonderful to have this accolade as it puts us up at the very, very top of our industry, regionally and nationally."
The award is only given to ARCA members that have undertaken training with the body via supervisors and operatives’ courses, have a minimum of eight delegates on any of these courses, and have achieved an average scoring of 92.5 per cent across all delegates trained.
S Roberts Group, which has more than 90 years of experience, is also one of the South West’s leading waste management companies.
It provides specialist industry and geographical knowledge to advise commercial and domestic clients on the best possible waste solutions.
The third-generation firm is run by the founder, Sammy Roberts’ granddaughters, Vicky Owens and her sister Beccy Roberts, who took over the business from their father, Terry, in 2004.
It also offers skip, tipper and plant hire, bulk earth moving, grab hire, recycled aggregates and demolition services for domestic and commercial clients across the South West.
Satish Patel, training manager at ARCA, told the S Roberts Group by email: "May I personally, and on behalf of the ARCA Training and Competency Committee, congratulate you and all your staff on achieving the ARCA Gold Training Award.
"This is a considerable achievement and you and your team should be justifiably pleased.
"It is a testament to all your staff that have attained a higher-than-average score in training sessions to achieve this award."
