ANN Winter, head teacher at Robert Blake Science College, said she felt "shocked and angry" after hearing plans for her new school had been put on hold.

She said: “If we had only just started this project, I could understand the Government's decision, but to take it away at this late stage, after three years of work, is so unfair.

“Our school is not fit for purpose. We have maintained it as best we can but we are just covering up the cracks.

“We were looking forward to a lovely sports hall, a lovely library, lovely classrooms, a new dining room - everything.”
