PINT sized pupils learnt how their favourite drink is made during a tour of the Robert Wiseman dairy in Bridgwater.

Children from Hazel class at Stogursey Primary School were welcomed at the huge processing plant to help launch a special edition milk carton.

The limited edition packs include characters from new animated blockbuster movie Gnomeo and Juliet, and include a competition where one pint sized hero could win £1,500 of playground equipment for their school.

But the real star of the show was Wiseman's new Tetrapak C3 machine, the UK's first model to produce 200ml cartons for schools.

Peter Twiss, site manager, said: “It's a great opportunity for the children to see how the milk they drink in school is processed and if one of them becomes a pint sized hero by winning the equipment for their school then all the better.”

Lisa Dunwood, class teacher, added: “The children had a great day, its been an interesting and informative visit and as well as showing us the process milk goes through, its given the children an insight of the benefits of including milk in their diet.

“It was fascinating to see the machine that was producing these packs and for us to sample the milk at the end of the tour, we'll definitely be entering the competition to win this great prize.”
