TOP trampolinist Laura Gallagher's dreams of reaching the 2012 Olympics are coming on with leaps and bounds - but she needs Mercury readers' help to make it to London.

The 21-year-old, from Westonzoyland, is a previous world under-19 trampolining champion, but she needs new training equipment to help give her the best possible chance of making next year's games.

She has organised a fundraising event packed with trampoline taster sessions, stalls and live music at Haygrove School in Bridgwater on Saturday.

She said: “This event will help raise money for some essential new equipment which will really help my training.

“I am currently training with a genuine chance of competing at the 2012 Olympic Games.

“There are four girls fighting for one, potentially two Olympic spots and I am working so hard to ensure that I make it.

“There is a very long season ahead and I am nervous but very excited about my journey over the next 12 months.

“It is a bit of a rollercoaster emotionally and incredibly tough mentally, but I have a great coach and club around me which always helps me.

“It is such a huge opportunity and I am trying to enjoy every moment of it!”

The event, which will run from 10am to 6pm, will include music from Marmalade Skies, State of Play, Why Kill Ian, Karl Ficarotta and headliners Shoot the Moon. There will be a £5 entrance fee after 12noon.
