BRIDGWATER’S Indoor Market in Eastover will to close next week after a drop in business.

Stalls will stop trading on February 25 and an auction will be held to sell off any remaining goods on February 23.

Closing down sales at the market, which had been open for 15 years, have already started.

Manager Pearl Johnson, who has worked at the market since it opened, said: “It’s quite sad but that’s the general trend in Eastover.”

Julie Churchill, who runs a T-shirt and laundrette service, said: “I would have been here two years in March and now I’ve got nowhere to go. I’m going to be another statistic.”

Sharon Davies, who runs The Old Nag Tack Stall selling second hand equestrian equipment, had only been based at the market for three months.

She said: “I’m gutted. The business is closing and I can’t afford to start another one without help. This market is just a walk way for people to get into town.”

Alloray Crookston, who runs the St Margaret’s Hospice shop, said it was sad to see the market closing and it would be missed by her elderly customers.

Jim Stretton, from Jim’s Tools, which sells second hand tools, moved to the area a year ago and set up his business. He said he would now have to go back to selling at car boot sales.
