A WOMAN was attacked in a Bridgwater graveyard this morning after she went to investigate what sounded like a woman screaming.
A man punched the 20-year-old woman as she entered the land next to Taunton Road Dental Practice, at 6.30am. There had been no other woman there and police believe it was a ploy to get her attention.
The man looked through the victim’s bag but is not believed to have taken anything. He then ran off.
A police forensic team have been investigating the area and officers are warning people to be vigilant.
Pc Miranda Elkins said: “If you hear strange noises, do not investigate, but call the police.”
She said the woman had been shaken by the incident, but was not badly hurt.
Anyone with information can call police on 08454567000.
