A FOOTBALL-MAD Bridgwater youngster has described leading out his beloved Liverpool as the best day of his life.

Ten-year-old Danny Lyons, a pupil at St John and St Francis Primary School, stood shoulder-to-shoulder with his heroes as club mascot for their Premier League fixture against Stoke City after winning a competition.

Young Danny travelled to the reds' famous Anfield stadium with mum Lindsy Colwill, dad Paul Lyons, granddad Tony Lyons and cousin Archie Taylor.

Not only was he given the chance to have a once-in-a-lifetime kick-around with idol Steven Gerrard, Danny's family were given access to the VIP lounge, enjoyed a three-course meal and fitted in a tour of the stadium and museum.

Danny said: “My day at Anfield was brilliant! I got lots of professional photos with the players.

“It was the best day of my life and I would like to thank my granddad for signing me up to the Liverpool FC Junior Club.”

Mum Lindsy said: “Words cannot describe how I felt on the day - it was absolutely amazing.”
