A Bridgwater policewoman found herself behind bars on Valentine's Day - but all for a good cause.

PC Kate Adams volunteered to go behind bars for 24 hours at Bridgwater police station to help raise money for cerebral palsy charity Scope.

Kate said: “Luckily it was a quiet night but I did have a visit from two colleagues at 1.30am to wake me up.

“It gave me a really good insight into what detainees go through; I wouldn't like to have to repeat the experience!

“I must say that the custody staff were brilliant, and very professional.”

Kate will continue her fundraising by holding gigs with her band and holding collections.

Last year, Kate climbed Mt Kilimanjaro and was part of a group that built a village for landmine victims in Cambodia, and next February, she is set to climb more than 5,500 metres to Mount Everest's base camp, to raise money for Scope.
