A Bridgwater restaurant's mammoth meat feast has had tongues wagging up and down the country.
The national media leapt on this week's Mercury feature on the Bridgwater Steak House's meat feast - a meal boasting a staggering 44 ounces of meat, including barbecue ribs, pork chops and steak.
Stunned readers flocked to our website, bridgwatermercury.co.uk, to have their say on the meal - tackled first by Mercury reporters Rory McKeown and David Hemming - and it also caught the attention of national newspapers including the Daily Mail and the Daily Star.
Nobody has finished the entire plate on their own yet, but Roger Smith, manager of the Angel Place shopping centre, came closest - leaving just half a chop.
He said: “I was very full after; I had to have a walk around while eating it. I went dancing with my wife afterwards and that was a struggle!”
The manager of the Penel Orlieu restaurant, Andrew Danniells, said after reading about the giant feast, a man from Trowbridge, representing a British version of the US cult TV show Man vs Food, had asked to try the meal later this month.
Andrew said it had been a “whirlwhind” week, adding: “We are waiting to see if anyone can do it but we never expected it to go this far.”
