A PUB in Burtle has signed up to a campaign to recruit 200 apprentices.

Paul Collier from the Tom Mogg Inn said he had never taken on an apprentice but decided to after hearing about Somerset County Council's 100+100 drive, which has now recruited 225 apprentices.

Paul said: "We’re a new business who have been supported by the local community and I want to give a young person from the area an opportunity to learn while they earn which is something I never had the chance to do.”

He is now looking for an apprentice in hospitality and catering, which is a brand new apprenticeship course being offered by Bridgwater College.

The campaign doesn’t finish until Friday, April 21, and employers are still pledging their support. Other businesses interested in taking on an apprentice can find out more information by visiting www.apprenticeships.org.uk or calling 0800-0150600 .
