TRIBUTES are being paid to a teenager who died after being hit by a train last week. Samuel Davies, 16, who is believed to have briefly attended Bridgwater College last year, died in the incident near Bridgwater Railway Station on Friday evening. He was a former pupil at Minehead Middle School and head teacher Paul Rushforth has paid tribute to him. He said: We're very sorry to hear that one of our former pupils has passed away. “We remember Sam as a lovely, kind hearted boy. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.” Officers from British Transport Police and Avon and Somerset Constabulary rushed to the scene after the driver of the First Great Western train from Cardiff to Taunton reported the incident to police at 9.15pm. Paramedics from South Western Ambulance Service also attended and train services were disrupted as his body was removed from the tracks. A British Transport Police spokesman said: “A boy was pronounced dead at the scene. “Enquiries into this incident are ongoing. The matter is not being treated as suspicious.” An inquest into his death was opened and adjourned by West Somerset Coroner Michael Rose on Tuesday. Did you know Sam?
