A GROUP of jobseekers brushed up their skills at a free training course in Bridgwater.

The training, which was held at the Tudor Hotel in St Mary's Street, was provided by Strode College and Job Centre Plus.

It was designed to develop the jobseekers' understanding of customer service and the skills needed in different jobs, such as retail and hospitality.

Most of the course members had not previously worked in customer services before but wanted to widen the search for employment.

It is hoped the training will give them an edge and extra confidence in job interviews.

Sarah Mills, one of the jobseekers on the course, said: “I will make use of everything I have learnt.”

Another jobseeker Alison Meakin added: “I will feel more confident going to interviews and will now go for a wider range of jobs.”

Graham Knight, course leader, said: “I'm delighted they gained so much from the course and wish them success in the future.”
