A BRIDGWATER catering student cooked up a storm alongside celebrity chef Martin Blunos.
Thanks to the Sedgemoor Young Chefs programme, Lawson McElligot joined the Michelin-star winning chef at the Crown Social Restaurant at the Thistle Parc in Cardiff.
Former Haygrove School pupil Lawson followed in the footsteps of fellow former Haygrove student and Young Chefs participant Lance Kierle who is working alongside Martin Blunos at the restaurant.
Karen Canham, Haygrove head teacher, recommended the pair for the course. She said: “We are extremely proud of Lawson’s achievements and delighted to hear that he and Lance are now learning from a nationally acclaimed chef.
“We wish them both every success in their chosen career.”
Cllr Stuart Kingham, Sedgemoor District Council’s environment portfolio holder, said their success shows the important role the programme plays in developing and promoting opportunities for young people in the catering industry.
