TWO dogs died after a fire in North Petherton today.
The fire service was called at about 10.45am by a woman who lives in McCreath Close, after she saw smoke coming from the back of a neighbour’s home.
Two fire crews from Bridgwater were sent and after forcing entry to the building, they discovered a fire raging in the kitchen.
The dogs, which had suffered severe smoke inhalation, were taken outside, but although fire crews tried to save one by giving it oxygen, both died.
The RSPCA also attended the incident.
The fire, which badly damaged the kitchen, was brought under control around 12noon.
Firefighters believe an electrical fault in a kitchen appliance was to blame.
