THE Somerset Waste Partnership has apologised to a Bridgwater woman who says she has endured several months with patchy rubbish collections.

Rita Warren, of Castlefields, first contacted the Mercury last December, saying her rubbish had lain uncollected for a month after the SWP implemented a new refuse collection scheme.

Her waste was finally collected after the Mercury contacted SWP and the partnership said more care would be taken to collect her rubbish in future.

But Mrs Warren said problems have continued, and weeks have passed without her rubbish being collected.

She said: “It keeps going on and no one will come to see me. It's getting beyond a joke.

“I don't have a problem with the workers, it's the ones who are paid £80,000 to do nothing whatsoever and I ask them to get off their backsides and do some work to sort it out.

“I cannot remember the last time my bin has been empty. I'm tempted to fly tip the rubbish now.”

After the Mercury again contacted the SWP last week, workers visited Mrs Warren's home and took away her rubbish.

An SWP spokesman said: “We are very concerned to hear about the on-going problems.

“We are very sorry to Mrs Warren and we are going to make sure she has all the collections she should have.”
