A HEARTBROKEN Bridgwater mother has urged the cruel thieves who stole precious dolls from her daughter's memorial garden to show “a shred of decency” and return them.

Yvonne Chapple, of York Road, placed this handwritten sign (pictured) outside her home after the mementoes were taken from a garden her family created in memory of her daughter Amy, who died of a rare genetic disorder in 2004, aged just 17 months.

The note tells them: “If you have any shred of decency you'll put them back; hope you're proud of yourself.”

The intruders pinched some items and damaged others last week.

Yvonne told the Mercury: “We had the garden done for friends and family to put ornaments and reminders of Amy in.

“It's mainly sentimental things like angels, because I used to call her my little angel, and rabbits because she loved them but one of them has been damaged.”

Yvonne said two porcelain dolls were taken from outside her front door and a set of lights have also gone missing.

“It isn't about the cost of these things, it is the sentimental value they have which is irreplaceable”, she added.

“Amy was diagnosed with Sandhoff Disease, which is extremely rare, when she was just 11 months old and she soon went downhill - it was devastating.

“I put the sign up because I want whoever had the cheek to come into the garden and violate it in this way to know what they've done. It's heartless.”
