DEVON and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service is encouraging people in Sedgemoor to get into the habit of closing internal doors before going out or going to bed at night. Firefighters say if a fire took hold in a room with the door shut it will be contained and potentially stop fire and smoke spreading for up to 20 minutes - enough time to save lives and the home.
