SOMEONE took a wrong turn!
Villagers in Combwich are considering putting up a road sign after the driver of a foreign lorry ended up with his vehicle stuck down a narrow lane on Thursday last week.
The driver, from a Lithuanian company, was caught on camera by a resident having trouble navigating the village’s tight roads on Thursday.
It is thought the vehicle may have been following a sat nav system.
Yvonne Bulman, who met the obstacle when returning home and took these photos, said: “The lorry was completely blocking the road.
“The work at Hinkley Point has brought in people who aren’t local. This is obviously going to be a problem as there’s no signage in the area to warn large vehicles about the narrow lanes.
“There should be better signage as it’s not a big enough village for massive lorries to travel through.”
A police spokesman said officers were called to the scene at 2pm and the incident was resolved by 3.30pm.
A county council spokesman said: “Highways can install signs if requested by the parish or town council.
“In regard to this particular incident, it would be up to Combwich Par-ish Council to approach Highways with such a request.
“If it was a question of increased Hinkley Point traffic more signs might be put up to direct them to more user-friendly routes.”
A spokesman for the haulage company, K. Valiusio imoné, UAB ‘Trans-kedave’, apologised for any problems caused and said its GPS system was due to be renewed.
