BRIDGWATER United Women FC have appointed Trevor Jenkins as the club's new general manager.

He was previously at the helm from 2014 to 2019, when the club was known as Yeovil Town Ladies FC.

While in charge, Jenkins led his side to win the FA WSL Club of the Year award on two occasions.

He also saw the highest growth in attendance and match day experience scores across the league.

Success did not end there, as they went on to win the WSL2 in 2016.

Jenkins also transitioned the team into a full-time playing and coaching team.

Unfortunately, financial difficulties led to their relegation.

His arrival follows the club's name change after 2019 and a change in ownership in March 2024.

Jenkins has been involved in football at different levels, from serving as the head of performance football in higher education to coaching at a girls centre of excellence.

He was also previously the England Colleges FA Women's National Team assistant coach.

Jenkins said: "I have been disappointed to see the current struggles that the club has had, together with the impact this has taken on the current and previous players, the staff, the partners and the supporters.

"As a male working in the female game, I have always been passionate about ensuring that women’s sport, has the same level of respect to that as the men's game and I will always be a strong advocate for that.

He continued: "There are some short term issues which the club is facing, but we’ve already made fantastic progress on this and I hope that we can share this news with you all soon.

"I must pay substantial credit to first team manager Grant Fisher, academy lead Katie Sharkey and the rest of the coaching team, who have held things together during very tricky times and taken on additional responsibilities above and beyond their roles.

"Longer term, the vision is very exciting and I am thrilled to have gone full circle, as I aim to re-establish and re-connect, in order to help the club and team progress on and off the pitch."

In the 2024/25 season, the first team will compete at the National League level in Tier 4, with teams such as AFC Bournemouth and Bristol Rovers.

The club has also announced the introduction of the U21 development team, while continuing with the U15 and U16 teams and launching a new U11s team.
