Bridgwater Cricket Club advanced to the semi-finals of the SCF Major Cup after a high scoring encounter with Wellington.

The match took place at The Parks on Wednesday evening where Bridgwater triumphed 203-8 against Wellington's 196-9 in 20 overs.

Having chosen to bat first, Bridgwater were off to a strong start with a remarkable 71 in 9 overs for the first wicket.

This was largely thanks to James Regan and Chris Skidmore, who scored 43 and 37 respectively.

This was followed by a bold performances from Harminder Singh, Mike Coles and Ryan Thorpe, with respective totals of 41, 36 and 17.

This left Bridgwater with a formidable score of 203-8 off their allotment.

In response, Wellington had a shaky start, being reduced to a mere 43-3.

However, an impressive performance from skipper Aaron Campbell, who braved his way to a commendable 50, tipped the scales.

Aided by Sachinda Columbage at 40, the pair forged an excellent partnership to put their side within touching distance.

Despite Luke Desave adding 31 to the total, Wellington fell seven runs short in what proved to be a highly entertaining match on an excellent pitch.

In their semi-final, Bridgwater will be at home to either Yeovil or Ilminster, with the date yet to be confirmed.

Bridgwater's 3rd X1 also prevailed in their match against Staplegrove CC in the 2nd round of the SCF Intermediate Cup.

Playing at Staplegrove, Bridgwater managed to come out on top with 109-4 against Staplegrove's 106ao in 18.5 overs.

Bridgwater's 3rd X1 is now set to play North Newton in the quarter final on July 17 at 6pm.

Furthermore, Bridgwater's 1st X1 will be participating in the WEPL T20 Finals Day at Bristol CC on July 14.

Starting at 10am, Bristol CC will play against Frocester CC.

This will be followed by Bridgwater playing against Potterne CC at 1pm.

The two winners will have a play off at 4pm.

The WEPL champions will then progress to play in the Regional Finals Day at Bridgwater on August 4.
