A student from Robert Blake School has competed on the world stage representing his Brazilian jiu-jitsu club from Bridgwater.
Gabriel Krzykawski took part in the World Junior Jiujitsu Championships and, after receiving silver in the GI category on day one, he went on to win gold in the Nogi category on day two and is now a world champion.
A spokesman from Gracie Barra, in Street, the club which Gabriel represented, said: “We couldn’t be more proud of this young man.
“Not only in his fantastic achievements in the sport, but with the impeccable manner in which he carries himself. No one is more deserving than this young athlete.
“Due to his quiet, modest nature, I’m sure Gabriel won’t mention it, but we feel it needs acknowledging.”
