Bridgwater Blackhawks 2 kicked off their Somerset Basketball League 2024/25 season with two wins from two.

The team started their campaign with a victory against Exeter Raptors in the Exeter Basketball League last week, showing grit and determination.

Then on Monday, the Blackhawks 2 hosted the Bridgwater Bucs 2 in a local derby.

It was fiercely contested, but the home side won 61-55.

Top scorers for the Blackhawks 2 included A. Andres with 23 points, B. Kacperski with 13 points, and M. Lomen with 8 points.

The Bucs 2's top scorers were R. McIntyre with 13 points, P. Rogers with 11 points, and K. Lukjanec and T. McKenna with 8 points each.

Club founder, Matt Lomen, said: "I’m delighted with the start we have made, especially with our new players who have hit the ground running.

"There are still a lot of areas we need to work on for the season, but some great basketball has been played right from the start.

"We just need to keep that momentum going forward."

The club thanked their main kit sponsors, UCS (United Cleaning Services) and ValetWise.

The Blackhawks Team 1 will begin their Somerset League campaign on Friday, hosting the Taunton Tigers.
