Bridgwater 0, Mendip 4
BRIDGWATER Ladies’ 1sts came away from a close game against Mendip on the wrong side of the scoreline - which really did not reflect the game.
Both sides were committed to attack in the opening minutes of the game - with the opening 20 minutes goalless despite many attempts.
Mendip then went ahead through a short corner, and capitalised later on to take a two goal lead into half time.
Bridgwater came out all guns blazing in the second half and dominated proceedings for the first 20 minutes.
However, despite some incisive attempts, a mixture of good goalkeeping and solid defensive work meant they were unable to grab the goal they needed.
Mendip then scored a short corner against the run of play, and despite Bridgwater choosing to bring on a kicking back as an extra outfield player.
Player of the match: Laura Coles and Sapphy Reed-Yang
Sedgemoor 2
Taunton Vale 6ths 0, Bridgwater 2nds 2
BRIDGWATER travelled to Taunton Vale for a game they needed to win to push them up the table.
They started the game attacking well and had shots on the Vale goal within the first few minutes.
Bridgwater dominated the first half and kept Vale pinned in their own 23 for most of it and managed to hit every post going into half time with no score.
The second half was very similar, Bridgwater stretching the Vale defence.
Jess Shobbrook finally broke the deadlock, slotting home from a great pass across the D from Kate Ward.
Vale had a couple of breaks later in the half but Bridgwater defended well and were awarded a penalty flick with five minutes to go.
Kashi Morrish stepped up and scored with a superb flick to the keeper’s left.
The final score was 2-0 which, with other results going Bridgwater’s way, saw them finishing fourth in the league this season.
Player of the match: Kashi Morrish.
