Somerset RFU Cup final
Taunton Warriors 22, North Petherton 18
TAUNTON Warriors lifted the Somerset Cup after a thrilling victory over North Petherton in Thursday night's final.
In a match played in warm conditions at Bridgwater & Albion RFC, the Warriors struck first when Brett Harvey rumbled over from close range for a try which was unconverted.
Pethy hit back with a converted try to go 7-5 up, but Sam Baker's penalty re-established Taunton's lead.
The sides then traded penalties for distance and there were no further points added before the break.
Pethy started the second half on top and scored the first try after the restart, only for Harvey to go over for his second of the night shortly afterwards.
A North Petherton penalty levelled it up at 15-15 before the pivotal try went Taunton's way courtesy of Dan Ogden.
The conversion took them seven points ahead and, though Pethy hit back with a penalty to put them within four, they couldn't find the try they needed as the Warriors held firm to take the cup back to Taunton.
