Keynsham 10, North Petherton 30
NORTH Petherton’s impressive start to 2020 continued on Saturday.
Having beaten high-flying Hornets the previous weekend, a confident Pethy were always in control at Keynsham and took a 15-0 lead into half-time.
They stretched their lead in the second half to take a bonus point victory home, with tries coming from Jamie Adams (2), Henry Gliddon, Jack Coles and Jack Rees.
Harry Auton kicked a penalty and two conversions.
Andrew Ford, 1st XV manager, said: “We changed the coaching set-up last summer and brought in a few new players, and it has taken us a bit of time to work out a style of play.
“Things are starting to click. We have developed a good kicking game and some key players are coming back.
“Pethy have always had a good pack and now our backline is showing real class, which bodes well.
“On Saturday, we were the bigger and stronger team throughout and I think we left 20 or 30 points out there.
“Alex Dunham was very good at hooker, Henry Gliddon was sensational in the backs and number eight James Taylor played very well.”
This Saturday, Pethy host fourth-placed Lydney.
“We are seventh but only 10 points off the top - that’s potentially two wins,” Ford said.
“We traditionally have hard, physical battles against Lydney and we want to right some wrongs from the away game [which Lydney won 30-17].”
