Verde Recreo Men’s League
Central 1
Bridgwater 6, Taunton Vale B 1
BRIDGWATER men’s 1sts put their patchy recent form behind them as they trounced local rivals Taunton Vale 3rds on Saturday.
The hosts drew first blood as captain Duncan Morrish made a good step to pick up on a loose pass, lifting the ball into the D and dispatching the ball above the backboard.
Bridgwater soon made it 2-0 when a fantastic forward move ended with Tom Stacey’s strike being saved and Tom Lott burying the rebound.
Lott grabbed his second goal after some good defensive work from Rob Morrish, who made a strong tackle and found Ash Woolmington, who squared for Lott to make it 3-0 at half-time.
After the break, another slick forward move found four players in the D to Vale’s one, and Will Pope swept the ball into the corner.
With the home side pressing home their advantage, they grabbed their fifth through Woolmington, who unleashed a powerful strike into the bottom right-hand corner.
Lott who grabbed the last Bridgwater goal of the game, smashing the ball into the roof of the net from close range to complete his hat-trick.
Despite a late Vale consolation goal, the damage had been done and a well-deserved win was completed.
Player of the match: Tom Lott
