NORTH Petherton Rugby Club has announced its award winners for the 2019/20 season.
The club was holding out for a proper club awards night, but given the circumstances, it is not known when that was going to be possible.
Mac Taylor is the big winner, with the 1st XV Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year awards going his way.
Dan Morgan has been named as Captain’s Player of the Year, and Michael Stevens as Most Improved Player.
The 2nd XV Player of the Year is Josh Luke, and the Captain’s Player Jake Ellis.
The Colts also handed out two awards, to Matt Williams (Player of the Year) and Harry Saunders (Captain’s Player).
This is a tough time for all grassroots rugby clubs, with weekend matches their main source of income, and North Petherton RFC is no exception.
The club has, therefore, set up a crowdfunding page in an attempt to bring in enough money to get through the current climate.
The fundraising page is an initiative set up by Sport England, and the organisation will match whatever the club can raise, to the total value of up to £5,000.
With 36 days left of the crowdfunding campaign, £2,220 has been raised.
