ENMORE Park Golf Club is one of many golf clubs in the UK that focuses on fundraising for a wide variety of charities, writes Richard Walsh.
The club and section captains work hard to raise money during their term of office, devising numerous events for members to make their contributions.
Since 2012, across all the captains and lady captains’ charities, the golfers at Enmore have raised a staggering £68,300.
Among the good causes supported by Enmore over the years are Home-Start, St Margaret’s Hospice, Royal Marines Association, S.U.R.E, Somerset Air Ambulance and Children in Need.
This year club captain Phil Hodge has chosen Children’s Hospice South West for his charity, and is committed to supporting this charity as a nephew of his developed a a deadly genetic disease at the age of six.
To raise money, he is organising his charity day on Saturday, August 7, in addition to which there will be a professional’s challenge and other fun activities to generate funds.
Julie Blumgart, the lady captain, has this year chosen SARSAS (Somerset and Avon Rape and Sexual Abuse Support) as her charity.
The lady captain’s charity day is on Wednesday, May 19, when the women will dress colourfully in pink, purple, and turquoise, representing the charity’s colours.
