ENMORE Park Lady Captain’s Charity Day was held on Wednesday, in glorious sunshine, writes Richard Walsh.
The theme was Pretty in Pink, Purple and Turquoise, the colours of the lady captain’s charity - Somerset and Avon Rape and Sexual Abuse Support (SARSAS).
In total 55 ladies took part in this fun event, playing 18-hole and nine-hole team competitions, with all proceeds going to charity.
Afterwards Claire Bloor - SARSAS chief executive - joined the ladies to tell them about the work of the charity in Bridgwater and Taunton, and how money raised will be used to support local communities.
Lady captain Julie Blumgart said: “This was the first opportunity for us to meet as a section with the Clubhouse now open and the outside Marquee available, and what an amazing day it was.
"I couldn’t have wished for better weather.
"The ladies are so generous in supporting my charity and an amazing £870 was raised."
The winning 18-hole team, with 74 points, were Rachel Johnson, Heather Neale and Eve Bolton, and the winners of the nine-hole competition were Lynn Slocombe, Lorna Parker and Carolyn Blackwood.
Matt Habberfield and Alastair Witts teamed up to win the Gents Winter League Final with 48 points, ahead of Gary Cook and Martyn Clapp with 45.
Eight twos were recorded, a brace of which were scored by Enmore's head greenkeeper Gary Cook.
Martin Innalls was the winner of the Gents Daniel Cup bogey competition with +1; second place went to Jamie Temlett, also with +1, while third was claimed by Mark Chapman with -1.
Enmore Seniors continued their busy start to the season, but ended up losing both their games last week.
At home against their counterparts from Mendip GC, they lost 4.5-1.5,
In their second match Enmore Seniors travelled to Lyme Regis, where the hosts coped with the unseasonable conditions better and ran out narrow winners, 3.5-2.5.
Winners for Enmore were Carl Netto and Peter Sherry, and Kevin Lewis and Tim Smith, while John Earp and David Robbins earned the half.
